Mukhtari

In Islamic history, Mukhtar ibn Abi Ubayd Allah (d. 686 CE) was an important military leader and a commander of the forces of Ali ibn Husayn, the fourth Shia Imam. Mukhtar's most notable achievement was his successful campaign against the Umayyad governor of Egypt, 'Abd Allah ibn Zubayr, that led to the establishment of the short-lived Umayyad-Shia War.
