Muadh ibn Jabal was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and one of the Ten Promised Paradise. He was born in Yathrib (Medina) and was a close friend of Ali ibn Abi Talib. Muadh was known for his piety and was given the title of 'As-Sadiq' (the truthful). During the Battle of Hunayn in 630 AD, Muadh led the right wing of the Muslim army and was given the title of 'Amir al-Awsaj' (commander of the cavalry) by the Prophet. During the First Fitna, Muadh played a crucial role in supporting Muawiya against Ali ibn Abi Talib, who was supported by the majority of the Muslim community. Muadh's forces were instrumental in the Battle of Siffin in 657 AD, which ended in a stalemate and led to the eventual victory of Muawiya.
