Meaning & Origin
Ismaaeel is the name given to Ibrahim's (Abraham) firstborn son, born from Hajar's (Hagar) slavery in the Arabian desert. When Ibrahim (Abraham) left Hajar and her son in the desert, they were left without water or food. In their distress, Hajar called upon Allah (God) and He answered her prayer by sending a well of water, named Zamzam, and a bird named Thamarat to sustain them. Ismaaeel grew up to be a strong, obedient, and righteous boy, and was the father of twelve princes, including Ishmaelites' forefather, Ishmael.
