Ibn Khaldun describes Daqqa as a Berber tribe in his book 'The Muqaddimah'. They were known for their military prowess and lived in the Maghreb region of North Africa during the Middle Ages. Daqqa is believed to be an alternate name for the Dynasty of the Daqqa or Dynasty of the Dahir, which ruled in the eastern Maghreb during the 13th and 14th centuries.

He refers to it as a city in Yemen where a group of ascetics, known as the 'People of the Daqqa', lived in seclusion and devoted themselves to worship and the study of Islamic sciences. This group is believed to have existed during the 11th and 12th centuries.
