Historical Usage
Behrouz was a Persian warrior who fought in the army of the Sassanid Emperor Khosrow II during the Byzantine-Sassanid War in the 7th century. He was renowned for his bravery and was the commander of the left wing of the Persian army during the Battle of Nineveh. After a failed Byzantine siege, Behrouz led a successful counterattack and killed the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius' brother Theodosius. However, he was later killed in the Battle of Jalula during the same war.
Early 7th century
Behrouz was also a Persian hero in the Shia tradition, who was allegedly the standard-bearer of Imam Ali during the Battle of Jamal in 657 AD. According to Shia sources, Behrouz fought bravely against Aqeel ibn Abi Talib, the governor of Kufa on behalf of Muawiya I, and was ultimately killed by Aqeel.
