In the Islamic tradition, Barat is recognized as the name of a spirit or jinn that distributes blessings and happiness. There is a popular Hadith that mentions, "When the last third of Lent arrives, Satan is chained up, and the gifts of the children are brought, and people are given provisions, feasts are given, and it is not allowed that a fasting person should be greeted until the sun has set (that is, the Fast should not be broken by greeting first)." From this Hadith, Barat is often associated with the period of last Ashra or final ten days of Ramadan when people experience spiritual upliftment and seek mercy from Allah. The celebration during this period is known as 'Barat' asking for blessings, good fortune, protection, and the forgiveness of sins.

In the Sufi perspective, Barat is considered as the divine grace of Allah that showers blessings upon His believers in the form of good fortune, spiritual enlightenment, and inner peace during the last ten days of Ramadan. This concept draws attention towards the emphasis on seeking spiritual growth in the month of fasting to overcome negative habits and purify one's character. Moreover, learning from the actions of Prophet Muhammad SAW (peace be upon him) in emphasizing prayers and seeking nearness to Allah encourages Muslims to ask for Barat and seek its blessings, thus strengthening their faith and spiritual bond with their Creator.
