Shahida is an Arabic term meaning 'witness' or 'martyr'. In Islamic tradition, it signifies a person who bears witness to the faith, often at the cost of their life.
In the Quran, the concept of Shahada (testimony) is central to the declaration of faith, 'There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger' (Surah 48:28-29).
