The name Shruti is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘shru’ which means ‘to hear’ or ‘to listen’. It is the root of the word ‘sruti’ which means ‘that which is heard’. In Hindu scriptures, Shruti is referred to as the sacred Vedic texts which were passed down orally through generations. It is believed that these texts were received through divine inspiration and were heard by the ancient Rishis or seers. Shruti is a symbol of wisdom, knowledge, and enlightenment, and is considered a sacred name for a girl in Hindu tradition.
