Another legend associates Ektamayi with the Alwar saint Tirumangai Alvar. According to this story, Tirumangai Alvar was on a pilgrimage to the temple of Madurai Meenakshi when he was attacked by bandits. Ektamayi appeared before him, protected him and granted him divine vision.
