Devidasi (also known as Devi or Durga Devi) was a famous Hindu goddess worshipped in the Karvetta and Kurnool regions of Andhra Pradesh, southern India. She was believed to be a form of the goddess Durga, and was known as the 'Mother of the Land'. Devidasi was particularly revered by the Reddis and other local tribes, and her temple at Bhadrachalam was a major pilgrimage site. The temple was built in the 16th or 17th century.

Devidatta was a Buddhist monk and teacher who lived in the 3rd century BCE in Magadha (present-day Bihar, India). He was a disciple of the Buddhist master Mahavira and is considered to be an important figure in Jainism, a religion derived from Buddhism. Devidatta is said to have challenged Mahavira's teachings and was expelled from the monastic order. He then founded his own sect, known as the Lokasamgrahaka Sect, which emphasized the role of the monk as a protector of the laity. The name 'Devidatta' means 'god-given gift' and reflects the belief in the divine origin of the monk's abilities.
