Tanith is a name of Phoenician origin, possibly derived from the goddess Tanit. In Canaanite mythology, Tanit was the goddess of the earth and the grain. She was the sister and consort of Baal, the god of the rain. In Christian tradition, Tanith is not directly related to any biblical figure.
