Daphne

Derived from the Greek word ‘daaphne’, meaning 'laurel'. Laurel branches were associated with the Greek god Apollo and symbolized victory, purification, and protection. In Christian tradition, Daphne is the name of a flowering tree that is believed to have sprung up to protect St. Lawrence from martyrdom.
