Roque

Saint Roch, also known as Rocco, was a Christian saint who lived in the 14th century in Montpellier, France. He is best known for his role in the Black Death pandemic in Europe. According to legend, Roch cared for the sick and the dead during the pandemic, and himself contracted the disease after caring for a leper. He is said to have been cured by the appearance of a dog who brought him bread, and on recovering, he went on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Upon his return to Montpellier, he continued to care for the sick and the lepers, curing many through prayer and touch. He is now the patron saint of plague victims and dogs.

Rocco, also known as the 'Christ of the Miracles', is a Catholic statue located in the Church of Santa Maria del Milagro in Lima, Peru. According to legend, the statue was brought to the New World by a Spanish friar in the 16th century, during the time of the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. The statue is said to have performed numerous miracles, including healing the sick and protecting the city from invasion. The statue became known as 'Rocco' due to its association with Saint Roch, the European saint with a similar name and healing powers.
