Saint Maurilio of Saragossa, also known as Saint Maurel, was a bishop who suffered martyrdom during the Roman persecutions under the emperor Valerian in 259 AD. According to legend, Maurilio was a young man who was converted to Christianity by a hermit, and was appointed bishop of Saragossa after the death of the previous bishop. He was arrested and tortured for his faith, but refused to offer sacrifice to the Roman gods. He was eventually put to death by being covered in hot sand.

Saint Maurilio of Marmoutier, also known as Maurilius or Mauril, was a Breton monk and bishop who lived in the 5th century AD. He is best known for his role in the conversion of the Frankish king Childebert I to Christianity. Maurilio is said to have performed miracles and to have been a friend and advisor to Childebert. He is also believed to have founded a monastery at Marmoutier, near Tours, which became an important center of learning and pilgrimage.
