Callista was a Christian martyr and virgin venerated in the Eastern Orthodox Church. She was the daughter of a Roman senator and was married to a pagan named Publius. She was converted to Christianity by Pope Fabian while in Rome. When Publius discovered her new faith, he attempted to force her to renounce her beliefs. Callista refused and was sent to the mines in Sardinia as punishment. She is said to have suffered martyrdom by being beheaded in Sardinia.
