The name Abel is derived from the Hebrew word 'hebel', which means 'breath' or 'vapor'. In the Bible, Abel is the name of the second son of Adam and Eve. He is known for offering the first acceptable sacrifice to God, consisting of the firstlings of his flock and their fat. Unfortunately, Abel's brother Cain, who was jealous of Abel's favor with God, murdered him.
